Fabric & Power BI builds

Power BI builds where the numbers reconcile and the refresh just runs

I build semantic models, DAX, and reports on Microsoft Fabric and Power BI, so the next developer can actually pick them up.

What gets built

Four pieces, built to work together

All of it runs on the Microsoft data stack you may already own.

01

Semantic models

A clean model with one definition of every number. Revenue means the same thing on every page and in every report that uses it.

  • star schema
  • single source of truth
  • Direct Lake
02

DAX measures

Measures written to be read by the next developer, then checked against your source data so the totals reconcile.

  • DAX
  • documented
  • checked against source
03

Reports people use

Pages built around the questions the readers actually ask, not around every column that happens to exist.

  • executive views
  • drill-through
  • mobile layout
04

Refresh that runs

Scheduled refresh set up to run on its own, so the 6am numbers are there at 6am.

  • scheduled refresh
  • XMLA
  • deployment
Who it's for

A good fit if the numbers need to be trusted

If you only need a quick one-off chart, Power BI Desktop alone will do. You do not need me for that.

How it goes

A simple path from kickoff to live

No 80-page statement of work to start. We scope tight, ship something real, then expand.

STEP 01

Scope call

30 minutes to understand your data, your stakeholders, and what "done" looks like. You leave with a clear recommendation.

STEP 02

First working build

A real dashboard on your actual data within the first couple of weeks, so we react to something live instead of a slide deck.

STEP 03

Harden & hand off

Numbers checked, refresh automated, documented. It keeps running whether or not I'm in the room.

Questions

What people ask before they book

What is a semantic model?

It is the layer between your data and your reports. It holds the tables, the relationships, and the measures, so every report calculates each number the same way.

What is Direct Lake?

A Power BI storage mode in Microsoft Fabric that reads data from your lakehouse directly, without importing a second copy. I choose between Direct Lake, Import, and DirectQuery based on your data size and how fresh the numbers need to be.

Do I need Microsoft Fabric?

Not always. Direct Lake needs a Fabric capacity. Import mode, the classic Power BI approach, does not. If your data is small and simple, you may not need Fabric, and I will tell you so.

Can my own team maintain what you build?

That is the goal. I document the model and the measures and walk your team through them, so the next developer can pick it up.

Who owns the work?

You do. The models, the reports, and the documentation are handed over to your team.

How long does a first build take?

You see a real dashboard on your own data within the first couple of weeks after kickoff.

Still reporting to investors by spreadsheet?

Tell me what you're working with and who needs to see it. If I can help, I'll tell you how. If I can't, I'll tell you that straight.
